Hyatt Regency Boston Throws Dream Wedding for Boston Marathon Survivor

Hyatt Regency Boston announces the wedding and marriage of Mr. and Mrs. James Costello, on Saturday, August 23rd, 2014. Boston Marathon survivor, James Costello, met Krista D’Agostino while receiving treatment at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital after undergoing multiple surgeries at Massachusetts General Hospital for serious burns and shrapnel injuries in the blast.

The heartwarming news comes a little over a year after Costello headed to the marathon finish line with five childhood friends. Coming together in a mere six months, the wedding event was coordinated and held at Hyatt Regency Boston and tended to by top, Boston-area wedding vendors, including Brooks Brothers, Men’s Wearhouse, Style Me Pretty, New England Country Rentals, Uber, Bella Sera Bridal Boutique, Bella Bridesmaids, MiniLuxe, G2o Spa + Salon, Sam Adam’s, Bacardi, I Do Films, and more.


The Costello’s, along with their closest friends and family, enjoyed spectacular wedding elements to include:

  • Location: Hyatt Regency Boston, located in the heart of downtown Boston, believes there's nothing more important than bringing people together in an unforgettable fashion, especially that of a wedding and knew that attention had to be paid to this couple rounding up local wedding vendors in support. The couple exchanged vows on the outdoor Nantucket terrace overlooking the cityscape of Boston, before retiring to an intimate reception and cocktail hour in Hyatt Regency Boston’s Grand Ballroom and Adrienne Salon, one of the few oval rooms available in the city.
  • Theme: The elegant Nantucket theme, a nod to the couple’s cherished memories together, was honed by Rachael Gross of lolagraceEVENTS; New England Country Rentals executed the fairytale vision with top-tier products to include platinum accents of stunning silver-rimmed tableware and knotted flatware for an additional pop. Ryan Designs, The Fine Print and Design Light Co., provided integral décor and design elements.
  • Officiant: Carol Merletti, Wedding of your Desire, and main supporter of the marriage made in Boston highlighted the most important theme of the day: love. Unity in Glass created a hand-sculpted glass art piece for the unity ceremony.
  • Flowers: Blooms of Hope’s imaginative, seafaring and romantic floral arrangements perfectly enhanced the day in a show of protection, pure love, beauty and strength. Twisted Stems provided Krista’s bouquet, incorporating a piece of her mother’s wedding dress into the design.
  • Cocktails: Friends and family toasted the happy couple with Samuel Adam’s Brewlywed Ale, personalized cocktails featuring Grey Goose Le Melon and Bacardi Mango Fusion Rum, well as wine from Terlato Family Vineyards and Cupcake Vineyards
  • The Bride: G2o Spa + Salon styled the bride with a soft, sophisticated, side swept, up-style and natural, dewy and sun-kissed make-up that set the tone for a captivating smoky eye. The bride chose a pale pink nail color inspired by the internationally acclaimed Boston Ballet, courtesy of MiniLuxe. Jewels to accent the look included a custom-made, Swarovski crystal bracelet and antique flower earrings from MFlynn Accessories.
  • The Wedding Dress: Courtesy of Bella Sera Bridal Boutique the breathtaking Allure Couture gown featured a sheer-illusion neckline and sleeveless bodice encrusted with Swarovski crystals. The bride has chosen to donate her wedding gown to the Semper Fi Foundation to benefit a local member of the U.S. Armed Forces.
  • Bridal Party: The bridesmaids donned LulaKate Pearl dresses compliments of Bella Bridesmaid. The bridal party and mothers of the bride and groom were treated to manicures and pedicures compliments of MiniLuxe, as well as hair and makeup services courtesy of G2o Spa + Salon. MFlynn Accessories outfitted the bridesmaids in freshwater coin pearl necklaces and mother of pearl antique flower earrings.
  • The Groom:  The groom dazzled in a custom-made, two button, navy, Brooks Brothers suit. A made-to-measure option proudly made in Haverhill, MA. 
  • Gentlemen/Groomsmen Attire: Dressed by menswear designer and chief creative director of Men’s Wearhouse, Joseph Abboud, the fathers of the bride and groom, and ushers wore suits provided by Men’s Wearhouse: Joseph Abboud grey sharkskin notch lapel suits made in New Bedford, MA. 9Tailors kindly accented the groomsmen with ties, suit pants and jackets.
  • Stationery: Goosefish Press personalized hand-fed, antique letterpress invitations with a classic script and vintage-inspired engraved font with inks mixed by hand. Custom design day-of stationery, signage and custom logo were provided by Lynn Graham Designs featuring whimsical calligraphy by The Fine Print.
  • Cake: The cake was created by Montilio’s Baking Company of Boston especially for the celebration. A classic, four-tiered, embossed design featured white diamond designed fondant sprinkled with edible pearls and smooth fondant covered with bling ribbon bands. The cake included handmade, white pas-tillage hydrangeas and a monogram over four different flavors.
  • Photography: Prudente Photography worked diligently to capture the wedding event, encompassing the emotion and personality of the day.
  • Videographer: I Do Films captured the love and happiness of the weekend, telling the storyline to perfection, looking for the beautiful moments and setting them in perfect arrangement.
  • Music: DJ Chris Roxx provided an innovative approach to the classic DJ-style. Ceremony musicians multi-instrumentalist and composer, Rob Flax, and cellist and singer-songwriter, Eric Law, welcomed guests, and renowned tenor & crooner, Antonio Cassisi wowed with Italian sounds during cocktail hour.
  • First Dance: Arthur Murray Dance Studio outfitted James and Krista with the moves and confidence to perform a rumba during their first dance. 
  • Rehearsal Dinner: Graciously provided by TRADE, the dinner featured passed hors d’oeuvres and a 3-course menu highlighting seasonal signature dishes, as well as a specialty cocktail, the “Hawaiian Shirt,” made with Privateer Rum in honor of Krista and James’ honeymoon locale.
  • Transportation: Uber, and their partnership with Style Me Pretty, connected wedding guests’ with drivers at the click of a button. Old Town Trolley provided transportation to the rehearsal dinner.
  • Honeymoon: Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort, Grand Hyatt Kauai, and Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa have provided three complimentary room nights to ensure that the newlyweds have a honeymoon deserving of the light and love that they share as a couple.
